Last Saturday, 17 anglers battled it out at Pendine in the second of four qualifying matches in this year’s DragonMania Shore Welsh Championships.
The fishing was slow at best, as a high-pressure system and moved in and the surf was non-existent, leaving the water crystal clear.
Bags were made up of only flounder, however the ones caught were very good specimens up to 44cms.
Congratulations to the top five placed anglers from the match, who have all booked their place in October’s final.

They join the qualifiers from the first match at Burry Port, won by Shaun Tucker, and followed by Rob Collins, Ben Edwards, Steve Tucker and Peter Hammond.
Pendine match winner Phil said: “The match started out slow for me with the very calm conditions, no surf and clear water.
“I managed a fish first cast at around 50 yards out and one a hour in again at around the same distance.
“The fish switched on when the flood started and shorter casts produced fish with two double shots as a bonus. They were a very good average stamp of flounder with most over 35cm.”
