The Team Wales Float Fishing Team were mixing it with the very best in Europe last weekend at the 28th Coarse Angling European Championships held in the Netherlands.
Led by manager Ben Roberts, the six-strong team also included the vastly experienced Lee Edwards along with Chris Jones and Geraint Powell, who had previously made two full international appearances. Joining them were Ty Woods and Steve Roberts – who were both making their full international debuts.
Meanwhile assisting Ben was Si Greening, with James 'Marge' Thomas on the bank.
Team Wales finished 11th out of 24 competing nations along the Princess Margaret Canal in Spannenburg.
France took the victory in the Team event while Ramon Ansing from the Netherlands won the individual competition.
“So proud of the lads,” said Ben. “We have four younger up and coming anglers in the shape of Geraint Powell, Chris Jones, Ty Woods and Steve Roberts and I must say Lee was superb with them and worked out a great plan.”
