The month of August has seen our two Under 18 coarse championships for North and South Wales take place – with a new open competition also now having been added for September.
First up was the South Wales event held at White Springs Fishery, Pontarddulais, at the beginning of the month.
After what was an enjoyable day, huge congratulations in particular went to the winner, Zayther Radford, along with runner-up Ruby-Leigh Davies and third place Travis Couch.
Then, over the bank holiday weekend, attention then turned to Stamford Way in Flintshire for the North Wales Under 18 event.
Victory on the day belonged to 13-year-old Osian Fitzjohn – a Holyhead & District Angling Club member from Porthmadog – with Ben Lurz (Ewloe) in second and Mason Edwards (Leeswood) who finished third in his first competition.
It was kindly hosted by Leon Bowen, who also donated a free day of fishing to all competitors, while Leon also encouraged Deeside Tackle to donate a £5 voucher to all. Bron Eifion Fishing and Eisteddfa Fishery also donated a free day’s fishing, so Angling Cymru offers grateful thanks to them.
Thanks must also go to the parents, grandparents and guardians etc that bought the youngsters and sat with them and encouraged them all day; some were quite inexperienced – but all caught some nice fish.
Following on from the popularity of these two events, we have now added an EXTRA Under 18 coarse championship to our calendar – an open competition.
The Angling Cymru Under 18 Welsh Open Coarse Angling Competition will take place on Saturday 28th September at White Springs Fishery.
The draw will take place at 9.30am, fishing 11am till 4pm.
Entry is free and is open to any under 18 angler. Prize fund in tackle vouchers – £125, £75 & £50 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
